Secondary English Teacher: The Hempfield Area School District is accepting applications for a Long Term Substitute (first semester) English teacher at the High School available August 15, 2024 through January 13, 2025.  Requirements: Valid PA English 7-12 certificate.  Applicants must be willing to plan and administer the English instructional program and classroom operation in compliance with guidelines and regulations determined by the administration, Board of Directors, state and federal agencies. Applicants should possess strong classroom management skills, passion for teaching the related courses, and be energetic and engaging to inspire the students

Director of Pupil Services: The Hempfield Area School District (Greensburg, PA) has a vacancy for a 12-month Director of Pupil Services available immediately. Requirements: Valid PA certification of Supervisor of Pupil Services or Principal or Letter of Eligibility. The position of Director of Pupil Services is a district-wide administrative position that includes oversight of all aspects of the Student Services Department. Duties include but are not limited to: supervising and/or coordinating all the pupil personnel services areas and evaluating assigned staff in these areas as designated by the school superintendent.  Applicants should possess strong leadership, communication, interpersonal skills, ability to problem solve, and analyze data to make instructional decisions. Click here for a copy of the job description.

Family and Consumer Science Teacher (1-Year 2024/2025): The Hempfield Area School District has an opening for a long term substitute Family and Consumer Science teacher available August 15, 2024 through June 2, 2025. Requirements: Valid PA Family and Consumer Science certificate. Applicants must be willing to plan and administer the FACS instructional program and classroom operation in compliance with guidelines and regulations determined by the administration, Board of Directors, state and federal agencies. Applicants must be willing to teach courses and programs  related to family and consumer sciences, career, community and family connections, consumer and family resource management, parenting and child development, food, nutritional and wellness, family and interpersonal relationships. Applicants should possess strong classroom management skills, passion for teaching the related courses, and be energetic and engaging to inspire the students.

The Hempfield Area School District anticipates one (1) opening for a 1/2 Spanish Long-term Substitute Teacher effective August 15, 2024 through June 2, 2025:  Requirements: Valid PA Spanish certificate. Applicants must be willing to teach Spanish courses and programs in the classroom including: communication, culture, and local, national and global usage. Applicants should possess strong classroom management skills, passion for the Spanish language and culture, be energetic and engaging to inspire the students.

The Hempfield Area School District has an opening for a ½ Long Term Substitute Middle School Math teacher available August 15, 2024 through June 2, 2025. Requirements: Valid PA Math 7-12, Math Mid Level certificate or Elementary K-6, K-8. Applicants must be willing to plan and administer the Math instructional program and classroom operation in compliance with guidelines and regulations determined by the administration, Board of Directors, state and federal agencies. Applicants should possess strong classroom management skills, passion for teaching the related courses, and be energetic and engaging to inspire the students.

Anticipated Building Aides: The Hempfield Area School District anticipates vacancies for permanent, part-time building aides, location(s) to be determined, starting in the 2023-24 school year. The hours are variable depending on building and assignment. Terms and conditions of employment are in accordance with collective bargaining agreement.

The Hempfield Area School District anticipates vacancies for armed school police officers starting in August 2023. Requirements: Successful completion of basic training as required by the Municipal Police Officers Education and Training Commission under 53 Pa.C.S. Ch D (relating to municipal police education and training) or have graduated from the Pennsylvania State Police Academy, been employed as a State trooper with the Pennsylvania State Police, and separated from that service in good standing; Successful completion of (or ability to attend and successfully complete) the Basic School Resource Officer Course of Instruction offered by the National Association of School Resource Officers (NASRO); Obtain and maintain (or ability to obtain and maintain) a School Police Officer designation from the Court of Common Pleas; maintain job operations in compliance with guidelines and regulations determined by the administration, Board of Directors, state and federal agencies. Guest teachers are individuals in the community who do not have a teacher certification, but possess a Bachelor’s degree or higher. The Pennsylvania Department of Education (PDE) will grant an emergency permit (Type 06 permit) allowing individuals to become a day-to-day substitute teacher once the individual completes a district training program, provides required employment documentation (physical, TB test, transcripts and clearances, and other forms), and the PDE application through TIMS. The Type 06 permit allows a guest teacher to substitute in any subject area. The Type 06 Emergency Permit is valid for one year (August 1st-July 31st) and must be renewed on an annual basis.
