The Hempfield Area School District is seeking a full-time, 12-month Human Resources Assistant. This position will provide clerical and administrative support to the Human Resource Director and employees of the school district, partner with district administrators, and supervisors to build and maintain a deep pool of applicants for all district positions. Assist in the coordination of job recruitment and hiring efforts and manages vacancy postings, application tracking, and interview scheduling. Supports the delivery of a smooth, timely, and welcoming onboarding and off-boarding process. Assists to track employee credentials, including PDE professional and administration certifications, PDE required background checks, state mandated and district required training/professional development, employee performance evaluation, and professional tenure. Assist in the management of the approval and processing of tuition reimbursement process. 

 

Associate degree in Business Administration or related field or equivalent office experience, Degree in Human Resources Management preferred. Experience in human resources, administrative office, or employee service related experience preferred. Other equivalent combinations of education and work experience may be considered. Experience working in education and/or school systems preferred.

 

Knowledge of general HR functions and regulations such as federal and state employee leave laws (FMLA, Workers’ Compensation, Unemployment Compensation, etc.) preferred. Must be able to utilize a variety of office applications (Microsoft Office and Google applications) including technology to manage information systems to carry out essential human resources office operations. Maintains personnel and employee work records by filing and storing hard copies of data, updating computer files and spreadsheet data, uploading and downloading of data files, and purging data files in the maintenance of personnel information. Wendover Middle School Secretary: The Hempfield Area School District has a vacancy for a Permanent, full-time 10-month Secretary beginning August 3, 2023. The building secretary is responsible for providing secretarial, clerical, record keeping, and organizational service for the school. Hourly Rate: Per the Secretarial Salary and Fringe Benefit Plan 

The Hempfield Area School District anticipates teacher vacancies in several PDE certification areas starting in August 2023. Requirements: Valid PDE certificate(s) in respective area required. All applicants must be willing to plan and administer the instructional program and classroom operation in compliance with guidelines and regulations determined by the administration, Board of Directors, state and federal agencies. Applicants should possess strong classroom management skills, passion for teaching the related courses, and be energetic and engaging to inspire the students.

The anticipated teaching positions include:

 

Special Education Teachers: Requirements: Valid PA Special Education certificate(s). The special education teacher shall render diagnostic, prescriptive, and education services designed within an Individualized Education Plan (IEP) to serve students having one or more disabilities; assist in writing the IEP for the identified students; provide appropriate modification to curriculum; and provide instructional support as outlined in the IEP. Applicants should possess strong classroom management skills, passion for teaching the related courses, and be energetic and engaging to inspire the students.  

 

Spanish Teacher: Requirements: Valid PA Spanish certificate. Applicants must be willing to teach Spanish courses and programs in the classroom including: communication, culture, and local, national and global usage. Applicants should possess strong classroom management skills, passion for the Spanish language and culture, be energetic and engaging to inspire the students.  

 

Chemistry Teacher: Requirements: Valid Chemistry certificate (7-12). Applicants must be willing to teach chemistry classes that describe the scientific study of the composition and behavior of matter, including its micro and macro-structure, the processes of chemical change and the theoretical description and laboratory simulation of these phenomena.

Art Teacher: Requirements: Valid PA Art certification. Course and program content includes, but is not limited to: crafts, ceramics, drawing, painting, sculpture, basic graphic arts design, printmaking, computer art, art conservation, art history, art management, art theory, art criticism, art techniques, and intermediate art.  

 

Elementary Permanent and Long Term (LTS) Positions (K-5): Requirements: Valid PA Elementary Certification(s) within specific grade level. Applicants must be willing to teach courses and programs related to the core content subject assigned and deliver all elementary subject matter to diverse, pre-adolescent and adolescent populations in inclusive settings. 

Technology Education Teacher: Requirements: Valid PA Technology Education, Industrial Arts/Technology or Industrial Arts certificate. Applicants must be willing to teach subject based programs that promote an understanding of the sciences, related technologies and their interrelationship. Technology education is the practical application of tools, materials, processes and systems. 

 

Music Education Teacher: Requirements: Valid Music Education K-12 certificate. Applicants must be willing to teach music appreciation programs at various educational levels, as assigned, and provide the means to expand interest, challenge abilities, recognize social responsibilities and privileges and foster physical, emotional, intellectual, spiritual and aesthetic growth.

Anticipated Paraprofessional: The Hempfield Area School District anticipates vacancies for  permanent, full-time paraprofessional, location(s) to be determined, starting in the 2023-24 school year.  The Paraprofessional position includes, but is not necessarily limited to, assisting teachers in the education and training of special education students. The paraprofessional’s role is to increase the potential effectiveness of the professional and increase the quality of instruction by freeing the teacher from the non-instructional activities of the classroom. Anticipated Building Aides: The Hempfield Area School District anticipates vacancies for permanent, part-time building aides, location(s) to be determined, starting in the 2023-24 school year. The hours are variable depending on building and assignment. Anticipated Full-Time Custodian Positions: The Hempfield Area School District anticipates vacancies for permanent, 10-month and 12-month full-time custodians (2nd and 3rd shifts) at various locations starting in May 2023. Terms and conditions of employment are in accordance with collective bargaining agreement.

Guest teachers are individuals in the community who do not have a teacher certification, but possess a Bachelor’s degree or higher. The Pennsylvania Department of Education (PDE) will grant an emergency permit (Type 06 permit) allowing individuals to become a day-to-day substitute teacher once the individual completes a district training program, provides required employment documentation (physical, TB test, transcripts and clearances, and other forms), and the PDE application through TIMS. The Type 06 permit allows a guest teacher to substitute in any subject area. The Type 06 Emergency Permit is valid for one year (August 1st-July 31st) and must be renewed on an annual basis.
