The Hempfield Area School District anticipates teacher vacancies in several PDE certification areas starting in August 2024. Requirements: Valid PDE certificate(s) in respective area required. All applicants must be willing to plan and administer the instructional program and classroom operation in compliance with guidelines and regulations determined by the administration, Board of Directors, state and federal agencies. Applicants should possess strong classroom management skills, passion for teaching the related courses, and be energetic and engaging to inspire the students.

The anticipated teaching positions include:

Spanish Teacher: Requirements: Valid PA Spanish certificate. Applicants must be willing to teach Spanish courses and programs in the classroom including: communication, culture, and local, national and global usage. Applicants should possess strong classroom management skills, passion for the Spanish language and culture, be energetic and engaging to inspire the students.  

 

French Teacher: Requirements: Valid PA French certificate. Applicants must be willing to teach French courses and programs in the classroom including: communication, culture, and local, national and global usage. Applicants should possess strong classroom management skills, passion for the French language and culture, be energetic and engaging to inspire the students. 

 

Anticipated Nurse Assistant: The Hempfield Area School District anticipates a vacancy for a permanent, full-time (9-month) nurse assistant starting in January 2024.  This position is primarily responsible for rendering medical services for student(s) while being transported to and from school. The position is 7.0 hours per day (3.5 in the morning and 3.5 in the afternoon.) Valid LPN or RN Pennsylvania license required. The nurse assistant position,under the supervision of the school nurse and principal, provides health services to students and employees following policies and procedures per the Hempfield Area School District and the Pennsylvania State Nursing Board.

Anticipated Building Aides: The Hempfield Area School District anticipates vacancies for permanent, part-time building aides, location(s) to be determined, starting in the 2023-24 school year. The hours are variable depending on building and assignment. The Hempfield Area School District anticipates vacancies for armed school police officers starting in August 2023. Requirements: Successful completion of basic training as required by the Municipal Police Officers Education and Training Commission under 53 Pa.C.S. Ch D (relating to municipal police education and training) or have graduated from the Pennsylvania State Police Academy, been employed as a State trooper with the Pennsylvania State Police, and separated from that service in good standing; Successful completion of (or ability to attend and successfully complete) the Basic School Resource Officer Course of Instruction offered by the National Association of School Resource Officers (NASRO); Obtain and maintain (or ability to obtain and maintain) a School Police Officer designation from the Court of Common Pleas; maintain job operations in compliance with guidelines and regulations determined by the administration, Board of Directors, state and federal agencies. Anticipated Paraprofessional: The Hempfield Area School District anticipates vacancies for  permanent, full-time paraprofessional, location(s) to be determined, starting in the 2023-24 school year.  The Paraprofessional position includes, but is not necessarily limited to, assisting teachers in the education and training of special education students. The paraprofessional’s role is to increase the potential effectiveness of the professional and increase the quality of instruction by freeing the teacher from the non-instructional activities of the classroom. She/he is not responsible for the design, direction or evaluation of the teaching-learning process. The job description can be viewed here: Click here for Copy of Job Description. Guest teachers are individuals in the community who do not have a teacher certification, but possess a Bachelor’s degree or higher. The Pennsylvania Department of Education (PDE) will grant an emergency permit (Type 06 permit) allowing individuals to become a day-to-day substitute teacher once the individual completes a district training program, provides required employment documentation (physical, TB test, transcripts and clearances, and other forms), and the PDE application through TIMS. The Type 06 permit allows a guest teacher to substitute in any subject area. The Type 06 Emergency Permit is valid for one year (August 1st-July 31st) and must be renewed on an annual basis.
