Right to Know Law
Right-to-Know Law: Public Records
The Right-to-Know Law became effective on January 1, 2009. This law makes access to public records easier to obtain. As a result of the law Hempfield Area School District has revised its Public Records Policy and established procedures to respond to request for school district records. The links below will assist you in making a request.
Please Note: We do not respond to anonymous Right To Know requests.
As of October 2, 2024, the PA Office of Open Records modified the Standard Right-to-Know Law Request Form as well as the policy for requesting OOR Records. The updated policy can be reviewed here.

Filing an Appeal
When a request is denied or deemed denial, a requester may file an appeal to the Pennsylvania Office of Open Records. The appeal must be filed within 15 business days of the denial or deemed denial date. The appeal must also include the request, agency denial if one exists, and address agency grounds that the request was denied. An appeals officer will determine if the record(s) is subject to public access.
