Directions to HAHS Baseball Fields ...

The following table provides directions to Hempfield Area High School Baseball field.  When entering the high school turn left and follow the road that leads behind the football stadium and into the parking lot adjacent to the football field's press box.  Once in this parking lot, follow the connecting road to the baseball/softball fields.

From the PA Turnpike to HAHS

Take PA Turnpike Exit 7 (Irwin) and travel East on Route 30 towards Greensburg.  Continue straight through 2 traffic lights and begin a slight grade uphill. Once at the crest of the hill (by Kenny Ross Car Dealership), start downhill and take the first exit (Adamsburg).  Bear RIGHT after exiting onto Adamsburg Road.  Follow Adamsburg Road for approximately 1.5 miles then make a LEFT onto Route 136 East.  Follow Route 136 East (including a right-hand turn by PA Toll 66) for approximately 4 miles to Hempfield Area High School.  The high school will be on your left; the baseball fields are behind the school.

From Points East to HAHS

Take Route 30 West past Westmoreland Mall heading towards Greensburg/Pittsburgh.  Take the Route 136 (West Newton) Exit in Greensburg.  At the exit stop sign, turn RIGHT onto Route 136 West.  Follow Route 136 West for approximately 3 miles.  The high school will be on your right; the baseball fields are behind the school.

From PA Turnpike to Hempfield Park

Take PA Turnpike to Exit 8 (New Stanton).  Stay in the left lane to Route 119 North; after 1/2 mile, take PA Toll 66 North. Follow PA Toll 66 North to Exit 6 (Harrison City/Greensburg).  At the end of the ramp, make a RIGHT onto Route 66 South towards Greensburg.  Go approximately 1/2 mile and make a LEFT at the Hempfield Fire Department.  There is also a sign for Hempfield Park.  Go over the bridge and start up hill; make a RIGHT at top of hill.  Hempfield Park will be on your right.  At the end of the road, bear to the right and make another RIGHT into the parking lot.

  

Directions to Opponent Baseball Fields ...

 

Albert Gallatin (Masontown German Park)

1.        Travel 119 South towards Uniontown

2.       Get off at Route 21 Exit

3.       At stop light, make left onto Route 21 W

4.       Continue 10-12 miles into Masontown

5.       Make right across a little bridge into Masontown (there is a little motel right before the turn).  You will go around a cloverleaf.

6.       At the stop sign make a right onto North Main Street.

7.       Make left onto Virginia Avenue

8.       At stop sign go straight.

9.       This will take you down into the park.

Field Comments:  Park with bleachers, bathrooms present but not always open.  Best Place to Sit:  Down Right Field Line on Hill.

 

Canon-McMillan (McDowell Lane)

1.        Take Route 19 South to King’s Restaurant.

2.       Make a right at King’s onto McClelland Road.

3.       Continue approximately 1 mile, passing McClelland Farms and McClelland Highlands.

4.       Once you pass McClelland Highlands, you make the next right onto McDowell Lane.

5.       Continue on McDowell Lane and the fields will be on your left.

Field Comments:  Park area.  On top of hill, windy and can be cold.  If you kiss up to the Canon-Mac people they will let you sit in the press box on the third base line.  Actual bathrooms on site.

 

Connellsville

 (Varsity & JV play at the HS)

1.        Follow Route 119 South

2.       Go to the 6th traffic light (a Subway will be on the right)

3.       Turn left at the light.

4.       At the next intersection make a right onto Crawford Avenue.

5.       On Crawford Ave you will pass Geibel HS on your left.

6.       Take the next left onto Breakneck Road (this is a difficult left turn because Crawford Ave bears to the right).

7.       On Breakneck Road, make the first right onto Falcon Drive.  The HS is on your left.

8.       The field is behind the HS.

Field Comments:  Nice field, sit behind backstop on bleachers.  Bathrooms and concession stand in building adjacent to the ball field.
 

(9th Grade plays at Teener Field @ Jr. High West Middle School)

1.        Follow Route 119 S to Connellsville.

2.       Go across Memorial Bridge.

3.       At the next intersection (this is a 5-point intersection), make a right up over the hill onto West Crawford Avenue.  DO NOT take the sharp right.

4.       Go approximately 1 mile.

5.       Junior High West will be on the right (the ball field is across the street).

 

Franklin Regional

(Varsity & JV play at Haymaker Park)

1.        Take Route 66 to Delmont.

2.       Get onto Route 22 heading towards Murrysville.

3.       When you see Dick’s Diner, make sure you get into the left lane.

4.       Continue on 22 until you see the Dairy Queen (on right)

5.       At the red light where the Dairy Queen is, make a left.

6.       Haymaker Park is right there.

Field Comments:  Nice field.  DO NOT PARK behind backstop area.  Foul balls will get you.  Park in Left Field or away from home plate.  Concession stand and bathroom at field.  Not always open.

 

(9th Grade plays at Sloan Field)

1.        Take Route 66 to Delmont.

2.       Get onto Route 22 heading towards Murrysville.

3.       At the Walnut Plaza (there is a Panera Bread in there) make a right.

4.       Go 100 yards to a 4-way stop sign.  Make left.

5.       At the next stop sign, make a right onto School Road.

6.       Follow this road until it ends (approx 2.5 miles).

7.       At the T make a right.

8.       At the stop sign go straight.

9.       Sloan School is on your right.

 

Gateway

1.        Go to Monroeville via PA Turnpike or Route 22 West.

2.       Make a left at first traffic light onto Mosside Blvd/Route 48)

3.       At the fourth traffic light turn right onto Gateway Campus Blvd.  You will see the Gateway marquee on your right before you reach this light. 

4.       At the first stop sign, make a right into the HS (Mennel Drive).

Field Comments:  Nice field.  Seating available down right field line.

 

Greater Latrobe (all games are played at Legion-Keener Park)

1.        Follow Route 30 East towards Latrobe

2.       Once you get to the first big intersection in Latrobe (the airport will be on your right), get into the left turning lane.

3.       Make a left onto 981

4.       Follow 981 until you get into town. 

5.       At the 1st traffic light, turn right onto Jefferson Street

6.       Turn right onto Chestnut Street

7.       You will drive right into Legion-Keener Park.  The ball field is straight ahead.

Field Comments:  Nice field.  Bathrooms available at stadium.  Careful of line drives if you sit on the 3rd base line.  Very open.

 

Greensburg Salem

(9th Grade  and JV play at Greensburg HS)

The ball field is located below the HS and it is easier to get to by going past the HS.  If you park at the HS you will have a long walk!!!

1.        Follow 819 North from Greensburg

2.       Make a left onto Edinboro (??) (1 street past McLaughlin) 
(There is a small hand-made sign “GS Ballfield)

3.       Follow to a dead end and go through the gate. 

Field Comments:  Bleachers on First base line but room for lawn chairs as well.

(Varsity plays at @ Lynch Field on Shuster Field)

 

 

Mt. Pleasant High School

1.        Follow Mt. Pleasant/Greensburg Road toward Westmoreland Fairgrounds.

2.       Stay on this road going straight through Norvelt until you get to the first stop sign (Open Pantry will be on your right).

3.       Bear right onto Route 981 (DO NOT make a sharp right)

4.       Travel this road for approximately three miles.  (You will see the school on your left as you travel this road.)

5.       Shortly after you go under the turnpike bridge, you will come to an intersection where there is a big red church on the left side. 

6.       Make a left.  The school is at the top of the hill on the left.

7.       The ball fields are at the back of the school.

 

Norwin High School

1.        Follow Route 30 W towards Irwin

2.       After Irwin overpass, travel Route 30 for approx 4 miles.

3.       After the fourth traffic light proceed approximately 1 mile until you see a set of yellow flashers (about two-thirds of the way up a significant hill).

4.       At the flashers there will be a blue sign directing you to turn right onto Buttermilk Hollow North.  Make this right turn.

5.       Proceed 1 block on Buttermilk Hollow North and make a left turn onto Old Trail Drive.

6.       Continue on Old Trail approximately .3 of a mile. 

7.       Go through traffic light and you will come to a fork.

8.       At fork, follow the left fork.

9.       Old Trail will connect to US Route 30 at a traffic light.

10.    Continue on US Route 30 about .2 of a mile and you will again see the yellow flashing light (just below Kenny Ross Chevrolet).

11.     Make right turn onto Buttermilk Hollow South.

12.    Follow Buttermilk Hollow until you reach a T in the road.

13.    Turn left and you will be on the driveway to the HS.  It will wind up a hill.

14.    At the top of the driveway is the Norwin complex.  
 

Field Comments:  Bring chairs or sit with the Norwin fans down the left field line or on the bleachers behind home plate.

 

 

Penn-Trafford

     (JV and Varsity play at the High School field)

1.        Travel on Route 130 through the city of Jeannette and the town of Trafford. 

2.       Route 130 will lead you to the entrance for the high school which sits on the left side of the road. 

(9th Grade plays at the Municipal Facility)

1.        Travel on Route 130 through the city of Jeannette and the town of Trafford. 

2.       On Route 130 you will come to a traffic light where Janet’s Restaurant is on the right side of the road. 

3.       Go past Janet’s and make the first right. 

4.       At the stop sign make a left which takes you directly into the facility.

Field Comments:  Bring Lawn chairs or sit on the bleachers on hill above third base.  Yell loud!

 

Plum

(Varsity & JV play at the HS field)

1.        Take Route 22 west into Monroeville

2.       At the first traffic light, turn right onto Route 48

3.       Follow Route 48 through the traffic light and stop sign (Van Horne Funeral Home is caddy corner to stop sign).

4.       Continue on the Orange Belt bearing right to the stop sign at the bottom of the small hill.

5.       Follow Monroeville Trestle Road (Orange Belt) past the entrance to Boyce Park to the stop sign at the bottom of the hill.

6.       Turn right onto Saltsburg Road (Orange Belt) past Shirer’s Pharmacy and Funfar’s Exxon on the left.

7.       Bear right at triangle past Franci’s Tile on the right (Orange Belt-Route 380) for approximately 2 miles to the stop sign.

8.       Turn left at the stop sign onto New Texas Road (Orange Belt).

9.       Follow New Texas Road past Municipal Building and Athletic Association fields.

10.    Bear right at the stop sign (Orange Belt) past Nesbit’s Bowling Lanes.

11.     Turn left onto Elicker Road. Entrance to the high school is a short distance on the left.  

Field Comments:  Nice field.  Sit in bleachers on third base line.  Sit high up in the bleachers or you will be hallucinating trying to watch the game through 2 sections of chain link fence. 

OR…

1.        From PA Turnpike Exit #6 Monroeville: Follow signs toward Monroeville. At the first traffic light turn right onto Rt. 48. Follow directions above to Plum Senior High School.
 

(9th Grade plays at the Athletic Association #6 Field)

Follow the above directions with the following exception:

1.        ½ mile prior to the HS, make a right onto Ross Hollow Road.  The field is back this road.

 

Ringgold

(Varsity & JV play at the HS)

1.        Take 70 West past New Stanton for eleven miles to Exit 46B.

2.       Proceed on Route 51 North for six miles to Route 136 (Monongahela Exit).

3.       At the stop sign, turn left onto Route 136 West.

4.       Travel for five miles to the high rise bridge.

5.       Cross the bridge; on the other side turn right and follow Route 136 through Monongahela until you come to the Eat N Park restaurant.

6.       Turn left and travel on Route 136 West for three miles.

7.       Ringgold High School and stadium are on the right.  Baseball field is behind the stadium.

Travel time from Greensburg is approximately one hour! 

Field Comments:  Sit on the hill on bleachers or chairs on the first base side of home plate.

(Harry Sickels Field (9th  Grade only))

1.        Take 70 West past New Stanton for eleven miles to Exit 46B.

2.       Proceed on Route 51 North for six miles to Route 136 (Monongahela Exit).

3.       At the stop sign, turn left onto Route 136 West.

4.       Travel for five miles to the high rise bridge.

5.       Cross over bridge.  At the end of bridge at the light turn left.

6.       Travel up the hill to top.  Make a right onto Country Club Road (golf course on the right).

7.       The field is a short distance down this road on the right.

 

Uniontown

All games (Varsity, JV and 9th Grade will be played at Wharton Field in Farmington, PA)

1.        Take Route 119 South to Route 40 East.

2.       Take Route 40 East to Farmington.

3.       Turn right at Pizza Hut on Route 381 North.

4.       Wharton Field is on the left.

Field Comments:  Gosh, you're almost in Maryland.  Nice field.  Bleachers on third base line.  You can put lawn chairs on first base line but that's usually the Uniontown side.  
 

(Bailey Park Baseball Field (Just in case!!!))

1.        Take Route 119 South to Route 40 West exit.

2.       Make left at the exit ramp onto Route 40/Fayette Street

3.       Get in right lane.

4.       At sixth light make a right onto Pennsylvania Avenue.

5.       Field is on your right past the railroad tracks.

 

Valley High School (all games played at HS)

1.        Take Route 66 North through Delmont.

2.       Make left onto Route 366.

3.       Continue on Route 366 until New Kensington.

4.       Go through the third stop light and stay in the left lane.  The school is on the left.

Field Comments:  If you aren't into walking this field is not for you.  Follow pathway from stadium walkway to field.  Sit on bleachers on third base side.  Lawn chairs also work well here.

The baseball field is located behind the stadium.  You have to park in the stadium lot and walk back to the field.

 

Yough (9th Grade only – Bruno Field)

1.        Take Route 136 toward Herminie. 

2.       As Route 136 bears left towards West Newton, continue straight ahead on Herminie Road (there is a stop sign; the road is not well marked). 

3.       Travel north for 2.3 miles to the intersection.  This is a four-way intersection.

4.       There is a Citgo and Dairy Queen on the corner.  Bruno Field is on your left.  If the game is at the high school continue straight to high school on the right.

5.       Park in the parking lot on the left and walk back to the field.

Field Comments:  Bleachers on first and third base side.  If you sit on the third base side stay alert for line drives.
