Bully Prevention

All of the Hempfield elementary and middle schools have initiated a Bully Prevention Program. A student is being bullied or victimized when he or she is exposed, repeatedly and over time, to negative actions on the part of one or more students (Olweus 1986; 1991). The following four rules form the core of this program:

  • We shall not bully other students.
  • We shall try to help students who are bullied.
  • We shall make a point to include students who become easily left out.
  • When we know somebody is being bullied, we will tell an adult at school and an adult at home.
