Title I Parent Compact

HEMPFIELD AREA SCHOOL DISTRICT

 TITLE I READING

HOME / SCHOOL LEARNING COMPACT

What Is A Learning Compact?

Effective communication is essential for building school-family partnerships.  The more parents and teachers share relevant information with each other about a student, the better equipped both will be to help that child achieve academically. When parents are able to form a partnership with the school, it has a powerful impact on the child’s educational experience.  All adults need to work cooperatively to enable children to reach the high academic standards expected at each grade level. The compact simply states the roles of the school staff and the parent(s)/guardian(s).  Additionally, the child also assumes responsibility for his or her education.  This compact is an agreement between the home and school.  Together, we do make a difference.

This school-parent compact is in effect during the 2017-2018 school year.

 How Are Students Selected?

Students are selected based upon the following criteria:

 Title I Reading Assessments:

AIMSweb Test of Early Literacy is set of brief, individually administered standardized measures for children in Kindergarten and Grade 1 used to assess skills and inform instruction.

AIMSweb Benchmark Comparison in Reading is a reading assessment for students in Grades 2 through 5.  The standardized measures include Vocabulary, Reading Comprehension, Silent Reading Fluency, and Oral Reading Fluency.

 Benchmark Assessment System (BAS)

Each child is given texts of increasing difficulty to identify the appropriate level for instruction in relation to reading comprehension.  The information is used to monitor a reader’s growth over time.
