Dr. Lisa Maloney, PhD, NCC, NCSC
I have been a professional school counselor since 1998 and in the Hempfield Area School District as an elementary school counselor since 2000. I received my B.S. from Penn State University in 1994 in Human Development and Family studies with an emphasis on child/adolescent development. I attended IUP and graduated with an M.Ed. in 1997 in Elementary School Counseling. I received my secondary school counseling certification in 2010. I graduated form Duquesne University in May 2015 with a doctor of philosophy degree in Counselor Education and Supervision. My research interest is in Response to Intervention and Instruction (RtII) behavior interventions for students in a school setting.
My personal philosophy is that all students can learn. It is my endeavor to remove barriers to learning so students can reach their greatest potential.
I am the IU#7 Unit Representative to the Pennsylvania School Counselor Association and the Pennsylvania School Counselor Association Secretary. I am a current member of the Westmoreland School Counselors Association, Pennsylvania School Counselors Association, and the American School Counselors Association. I have presented at local, state, and national conferences regarding RtII behavior interventions for students.
I live in Hempfield Township with my husband (Tim), three sons (Jack, Seth, and Brock), and two Cavalier King Charles Spaniels (Quincy and Phoebe).
