The SERVIS Program (Seniors Earning Rebates Volunteering In Schools) was started with the permission of the School Board and Superintendent in the year 2005 and has proven to be a huge success in our Hempfield Area School District. It consists of 40 resident home owners, age 65 or older and paying their own property tax, working in the elementary schools assisting teachers where needed. For their participation each volunteer can earn up to $500 at $5 per hour for up to 100 hours in voucher form, which they then apply towards their school property tax.
If you are interested in the SERVIS Program, information can be obtained in the Volunteer Handbook that can be found online. Application must be submitted each year before June 30th.
