FREE & REDUCED PROGRAM INTRODUCTIONUnder the federally funded National School Breakfast and Lunch program, free and reduced price meals are available to all families that qualify for the program. Applications for Free & Reduced Price Meals are sent home with all students during the first week of school. Families that believe they are eligible should complete one application per family and return it to the school cafeteria. The application must be filled out in its entirety in order for it to be processed. Applications for income must be completed each school year. If an application is needed any time during the school year, it may be obtained from the office in your school building or downloaded from the bottom of this webpage.During the first thirty days of school, those students who were eligible for Free & Reduced Price Meals the prior year in the Hempfield Area School District will be given breakfast or lunch at the free or reduced price while a NEW application is being processed.New applicants will not receive free or reduced price meals until their applications have been processed and approved.
Children who receive free or reduced price meal benefits are treated the same as children who pay for meals. In the operation of child feeding programs, no child will be discriminated against because of race, sex, color, national origin, age or disability. Persons with disabilities who require alternative means for communication of all program information (Braille, large print, audiotape, etc) should contact USDA’s TARGET Center at (202)720-2600 (voice or TDD).

This process will require an adult to login using the Student ID of any student in your household. Applying online will speed up the determination process and benefits can be utilized sooner. Please remember to include all students in your household that attend the District on the same application.
