WELCOME to MAXWELL ELEMENTARY SCHOOL!!!
Thank you for visiting Maxwell Elementary's webpage. Maxwell Elementary School is located just north of Greensburg off of Route 66. During the 2017-2018 school year, we have approximately 430 students in Kindergarten through fifth grade. We have 50+ staff members who positively dedicate their time and energy each day to help our children learn and grow academically, socially, and emotionally. Maxwell is an exciting place to learn! Our focus is on providing rigorous instruction without forgetting that children need exposure to the arts and at times, just need to have fun! At Maxwell, we have a winning team! The teachers, students and parents are part of this winning team. The parents truly partner with the teachers to hold students accountable for learning and the the hard work has paid off!
Our building theme for the 2017-2018 school year, our building is decorated with the "outerspace" theme. We will be "reaching for the stars" to achieve outstanding behavior and academic effort. We are focusing on Respect for Self, Respect for Others, and Respect for Self. Each month, we will are learning a new character trait, learning how to "Bully Proof" our school. Students receive coupons when they are observed to demonstrate positive behaviors. Each Friday, a name is drawn from each grade level and the students have the opportunity to win a Barnes and Noble gift card purchased by the PTO.Event calendars and a newsletter are posted on the school website each month to keep you informed of all of the activities taking place at Maxwell. We also have a “Take Home Thursday” so look in your child’s backpack every Thursday for important papers from the office. In our effort to saves trees, we no longer send as many flyers home but you will receive an email each month that lets you know which flyers have been posted on the website.Students will have some type of homework assignment nearly every day so check their backpacks daily for homework. Homework provides students with extra practice of the skills taught in school that day and provides a guide to instruction for the teacher the following day. Your child’s teacher will discuss homework guidelines and expectations with you as they are different for each grade level.
We are looking forward to an exciting year at Maxwell! Feel free to contact me with any questions or concerns that you may have.
