• WIRC stands for the Westmoreland Interscholastic Reading Competition.   Two teams of WHMS students will read novels from a given list of books and work throughout the school year to increase their comprehension of the selected titles.  Students will then compete against middle school teams from other school districts to test their knowledge of the books.  Mrs. Ulery and Mrs. Socrates are the faculty sponsors for WHMS.  This year, WIRC will meet during activity period in the library on every Day 2 of the school year.
Our competition will be held March 14, 2017 at Seton Hill.  Students must read at least seven of the required books to be eligible to participate.  Students may pack their lunch or purchase a lunch in advance.. Students are to wear their WIRC t-shirt to the competition.  It is fine to wear jeans.  Please, do not wear sweatpants. If you have any questions, please ask Mrs. Ulery or Mrs. Socrates.
