    All parents are invited to Open House on September 25 at 6:30 pm.
     
    Parents are also welcomed to attend the kick-off Spartan Pride meeting on September 27th at 6:30.

  • Pen's Great Phil Bourque Visits WHMS

    Pittsburgh Penguin Great Phil Bourque came to West Hempfield to wish the Spartans good luck on the PSSA exams! In addition, Pat Cavanaugh from Krons, also spoke to the students and emphasized goal setting and commitment to excellence. In the photo above, Prinicpal Steinly is going head to head with the 'Ol 29er..... Lets just say, Mr. Steinly didnt fair too well.

  • PSSA Pride Month

    WMHS Kicked off PSSA Pride Month this week. Every student received their PSSA scores and were asked to set a goal for this upcoming PSSA exam.
    Teachers are also getting into the action and have decided to grow a "PSSA Playoff Beard".
    It's time to get serious at WHMS.

  • Pitt Neuroscience Professors Visit WHMS

    Professors from the Pitt Neuroscience Dept recently conducted a series of lectures for all Hempfield Middle School HEP students. Students from all 3 middle schools traveled to WHMS for the unique opportunity to here some of the leading researchers in brain studies and cerebrial science.

  • WHMS Plays Santa for Local Vets!!!

    West Hempfield Middle School students recently prepared and shipped over 50 presents to local veterans at the VA Adult Day Health Care Center on Highland Drive. The veterans were blown away by WHMS students genorosity and kindness. Special thanks to Mrs. McCullough and Mrs. Sikora for coordinating the efforts.

  • Principal Night at the Reality Tour

    West Hempield parents came out in full force to join Principal Steinly at the Reality Tour. The Reality Tour is a very powerful drug prevention/education program produced by Candlelight Inc. Congratulations to West Hempfield Middle School for having the highest turn-out rate in the entire country.

  • WHMS Green Efforts Generate $2000 in Grants

    A small team of students accompanied Mr. Hines and Mrs. Sweeney to the Sustainable Cities Conference at the Carnegie Science Center. The team was given a $1000 grant to design and implement a community garden project on the WHMS campus.
    In additon, the PA Carton Council awarded WHMS a $1000 grant to help build their amazing single stream recycling program. Students have recycled over 5000 pounds of garbage since the first day of school.

  • WHMS Says "Thanks " To Our Vets

    On November 11, WHMS opened it's doors to over 40 Veterans.   The special guests were served a full breakfast and honored at the Veteran's Day assembly in front of the entire student body and teachers.  A special thanks to the teachers and Spartan Pride members who cooked the amazing breakfast and to the other teachers who helped make the assembly possible. An extra special thanks to Mr. Namie for producing the video presentation.
