West Point Elementary School's renovated library opened in August 2001. It includes a library classroom area that accommodates 36 students, an elevated story area, and 12 Internet accessible computer workstations.
West Point library houses over 7,000 books in addition to periodicals, audio and videocassettes, and DVDs. The library is an ACCESS PA and Power Library member.
The library is opened three days each week. Staffing is split between two librarians. Mrs. Long operates the library and teaches classes on Day 2 while Mrs. Kline is responsible for Day 3 and Day 4 of the five day schedule.
Volunteers assist in maintaining our library program. Volunteers organized by the PIE Coordinator perform a variety of tasks. These tasks include but are not limited to clerical duties, bulletin board preparation, storytelling and assisting students.
